About the Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a comm unity of more than 3.5 million people who are dedicated to eliminating cancer in our lifetime. Events are held in over 4,800 communities nationwide, teams of families, friends and coworkers join together to CELEBRATE the lives of those who have battled cancer, REMEMBER those lost and FIGHT BACK against a disease that takes too much.

During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
